Danny Kinda's Crossroads Blog #6
I just bought ice cream in the Denver Airport with the Kinda Good credit card. YES! The waffle cone was stale.
I sat at the commentary booth for over two hours today and missed my flight because I had to finish covering the “California Bear” vs Invasion match. What is up with those club names? I was sort of expecting aliens or some sort of military to pop out from underneath the SportCourt. Or at least some camouflage or laser guns. Nope. Just a girls’ volleyball team with “SWAT written on the back of their jerseys. Could someone please tell me why?? Anyway, all I wanted to do was see Cal Bear set (Tarrah) Murray every time. It was like she just moved across the street in SpikeTown during the match!!
This whole double-contact thing doesn’t make sense. Everybody double-contacts the ball, it’s legal the first time you do it (each time it comes over the net), but not legal after that, but setters do the double-huck-chuck anyway and only SOMEtimes get called for chow. It’s like refs have this little handset randomizer buzzer in their pocket that buzzes every 3 to 10 minutes and when it does the refs HAVE to call the next hand-set. I am right about this. Check the refs’ pockets!!
Anyway, I’m glad and thankful to everybody at Colorado Crossroads for allowing me to do whatever the heck I wanted to do for two weekends. Except they wouldn’t let me and my crew play in the 14-Gold Division in week 1. Why why why not?
To Kay Rogness, Lisa, Ed, Brandon, Kirk, and that crazy guy from the t-shirt booth who kept telling girls it was my birthday…THANK YOU for a great two weeks!

I think I got in trouble today, but I’m not really sure. So the Women’s National Team was warming up to play an exhibition match (against themselves) and while they were stretching in a big circle I figured they should at least have a leader in the middle of the pack so I led the team in stretches. They were really easy, you know, basic yoga stuff like downward-dog and that one where you put one leg in front of the other and try to rip apart your groin muscles/tendons. Mine didn’t rip, which is good. After our morning stretches, some lady grabbed me by the arm and “escorted” me off the floor, although I’m sure she regretted grasping my arm because after I flexed my biceps she appeared to be in pain. So basically I won that. I got the whole thing on film if you don’t believe me, but some other random guy with a big camera told me we couldn’t release the footage without some acronym-titled organization’s approval. I wonder if it’s the same acronym-titled organization that never gave us permission to put my Danny Kinda and Team USA video up. Hmm…

Danny Kinda and Crossroads, Week 2
We had a lot of fun cheering for teams with our big orange Kinda Good flags during the second week of Crossroads in Denver. Here’s some footage of us cheering it up…
Danny Kinda's Crossroads Blog #4
It’s ‘next week’ already and now’s about the time I request a mandatory Facebook Tagging of all the photos you people are taking with me. Thanks. Here’s my Facebook page. Use it. Have you ever blogged about a day that happened almost a day ago? Me neither. But I was so busy yesterday with cheering for just about every single team (which sorta seems useless after I’ve already cheered for the majority of teams because then when I go cheer for a new team the opponent is going nuts and yelling at me for cheering against THEM. But what am I supposed to do?? Keep cheering, and that’s what I did because I’m AWEsome at it.
I am no longer the only person in the Colorado Convention Center sporting a BanDanny. There was this totally cool “Energy” team rockin’ the flags on their knees! THE WHOLE TEAM! I gave them mad props, but then they lost, so I took the props back. Just kidding. I let them keep the props. I don’t really know what “props” are in slang talk, but it seems like it’d be a good thing.

Danny Kinda and Crossroads, Week 1
As if you haven’t gotten enough Crossroads stuff from us, here’s a Kinda Good view of week 1, including our Opening Ceremonies! Pretty fun stuff. Enjoy!
Crossroads Volleyball Alphabet Song
We had a lot of fun at Crossroads, but probably our favorite part was making this video with all the participants of the tournament. We present to you our Volleyball Alphabet Song, as sung by Colorado Crossroads!
Danny Kinda's Crossroads Blog #3
It’s almost impossible to blog in peace at this place. Like I said Saturday, there’s a million people running around and just when I sit down behind our t-shirt booth to type type type there’s like 20 girls in kneepads and bandannys singing the Volleyball Alphabet Song. Don’t get me wrong. I love that song. But I have work to do and it’s not like I can just IGNORE my favorite song when a bunch of SpikeTown Deputies are serenading me, right??
So The Kinda Good Crew and I finally got to play against one of our favorite teams when the tournament ended. We crushed them. They were from Chicago and they had to play barefoot because apparently Uggs are dumb and not made for shuffle-stepping (among other things). I can’t remember their team name but I bet it had the word “Chicago” in it (NOTE: If this is your team, please email me and remind me who you were. Sorry for forgetting). AJ blocked them all 8 times each and Billy kept asking for super-tight sets and kaboom-ing them straight down, which was fine by me because I had already taken these kids to SpikeTown during my Opening Ceremonies on Friday.

“A” is for approach. “A” is also for totally AWEsome! Today I ran around the Colorado Convention Center for approximately 19 hours with gigantic orange flags. I must’ve “hand“ed out like 6,000,000 high-fives at least. Even to parents and grandmas, you know, the ones who look all mean like they’ve never slapped five in their lives. And they probably haven’t except to me, Danny Kinda, because I had those really cool orange flags that made me look like a giant line judge.
At our booth we had a sign-up sheet where teams could request a cheering section at their matches, courtesy of Danny Kinda (me) and the Kinda Good Crew. We were responsible for some big wins by some big teams, most notably Texas Image (who knows what age they were. Just take my word that we won the match for them). Oh, if you’re a coach or something from Texas Image could you please email me and tell me what on EARTH your club name means???? Thank you. I’d like to take this next sentence to apologize to that one club team whose game we forgot to go watch. Whoops, sorry, my bad, won’t happen again, where were you when we got there (?), oh well, big deal. And to that team that called a timeout as soon as I got there, thanks a lot. Let me just tell you that you should NEVER call a timeout when I’m nearby (cheering my guts out) because just my very presence will help your team get out of its rut. Are we clear?

Last night I gave a talk to a bunch of hundreds of girls and parents at the Colorado Convention Center. It was good. Just kidding. It was great. Without giving too much away (I’m giving another talk next week on the same topic: Life) I’ll say that I showed the crowd a thing or two about how to take it to SpikeTown!
Today at the Crossroads tournament there were approximately a million kids. That’s an exaggeration (it was a million kids + parents) but you get my point. A million people there all to watch my videos and learn the secret of The Gator defensive technique. This one time, when my mustache and I were hanging out at our t-shirt booth, some crazy 14-year-olds kept peeking over at me and giggling. I mean, just come on over already and yell “NECTAR!”. If that’s what you wanna do then just go ahead and do it. And bring your camera. You’re gonna regret meeting me and not getting your picture taken with me. So GET YOUR PICTURE TAKEN WITH ME. Got it????

Crossroads is Kinda Good
Today we’re hosting the opening ceremonies at the Colorado Crossroads National Qualifier. It’s a girls’ tournament, so Danny’re pretty confident he’s gonna be able to take everybody there to SpikeTown. We’re not sure he knows what he’s in for…
If you’re reading this AND going to be at Crossroads then make sure you find us and introduce yourself. We’ll be somewhere goofing off with bandannys, flags, and gators.
Danny Kinda Coming to Crossroads
March is going to be a busy month. We’ll be spending lots of time in Denver, Colorado, at the Colorado Crossroads Junior National Qualifier. We’re leading the charge into the weekend with a huge opening ceremony featuring elephants with tusks, bungees from rafters, and like 5 horses. Danny Kinda will be around each of the weekends giving interviews that you’ll be able to watch live and giving demonstrations on how one gets to SpikeTown. So, if you’re gonna be at Crossroads, make sure you brush up on your video-watching and say hello to the crew. There’s gonna be a quiz at the end…
